Conservatories are a great addition to almost any property, giving you an additional room to your home which is perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature in, as you can comfortably soak in the views of your garden from inside your conservatory.
All of this makes conservatories brilliant in the warm Summer months, when you can sit out in the evening, read a book with a cup of tea and relax in the warm sun. But, in the cold Winter months conservatories loose a bit of their appeal, thanks to the Sun setting earlier which means there’s less time to enjoy the view and the conservatory will be much colder.
Because of the cold, many people will not use their conservatory at all during the Winter, which is a great shame. So, to remedy this and allow you to get enjoyment from your conservatory yearlong, we’ve whipped up this helpful guide to help you keep your conservatory warm this Winter.
Add Heating Elements To The Space
The first step you should take to heat up your conservatory this Winter is (unsurprisingly) to install a heating system into your conservatory to add heat into the space. How you add in heating is largely dependant on your budget, if you have quite a bit of money to spend, then installing a new radiator should be an easy fix; but if your budget is a bit tighter, adding in an electric space heater will be a cheaper way to provide warmth.
Insulate Conservatory Windows
Windows are one of the areas in a home where heat loss most often occurs, this is especially true in conservatories as they’re mostly made up from large window panels, making conservatories a hot spot for heat loss. The best way to reduce the amount of heat you’re loosing through your conservatory windows is to install conservatory blinds into the window panels to add a layer of insulation onto the window.
Keep The Floor Warm With Carpentry
One of the most common types of flooring found in conservatories is laminate wooden flooring, which is a great flooring when it’s warm out, but when it gets cold outside wooden floors will quickly get cold and give you chilly feet when you venture to your conservatory. To avoid cold floors, you can lay down carpeting or rugs to keep the floor nice and warm and prevent cold air from leaking in from under the floor.
Use Soft Furnishings To Warm Up
If after all of this, you’re still feeling cold in your conservatory it may help to try and warm yourself up rather than the space itself. A great way to keep yourself warm is with soft furnishings like blankets and soft sofa throws, when you feel cold in your conservatory, just wrap yourself up in your soft furnishings and you’ll soon feel nice and warm again.
Between these four nuggets of advice, you now have some easy and actionable things you can do to keep your home’s conservatory nice and warm this Winter. So go on, sit back, make a nice warm cup of tea and enjoy your beautiful, warm conservatory space!
